Vehicle Recovery at Vuniyasi Bridge

Background:
On January 6, 2025, a wooden bridge in Vuniyasi, Nadi, collapsed following heavy flooding. This incident affected over 2,000 residents in the surrounding areas of Vuniyasi, Malakua, Malolo, Navo, and Tunalia. During the collapse, a vehicle belonging to a local family was swept into the river. Fortunately, two brave bystanders acted quickly and rescued all the occupants from the vehicle, preventing any serious injuries or loss of life. The event was widely reported and raised concerns about infrastructure safety and the need for immediate response during emergencies.
